the plot thickens @lone wadi...I can copy the exact same uf2 to a spinning-rust drive I had laying around

I see the MATRIXBOOT drive and the pixel turns green, I just can't read or write to it

#

And it thickens again. A CPlay Express with a UF2 bootloader exhibits the same symptoms. Must be something weird with Windows 11

Copying UF2 to boardnameBOOT Drive Hangs at 0% Copied

On Windows, a Western DIgital (WD) utility that comes with their external USB drives can interfere with copying UF2 files to the boardnameBOOT drive. Uninstall that utility to fix the problem.
