relaying @cinder dragon's message from the main channel, which I second:

if you hold down the rotary encoder and plug it in, and then let of the rotary encoder, does an RPI-RP2 drive appear?

@blissful mica do these cables work with other devices?

#

Does the USB jack seem loose or anything like that?

#

are you plugging into a hub or directly into the Mac?

#

Do you have another computer to try?

blissful mica
#

using the same cable right now to connect my DJI drone to my mac, and i am able to browse the media folder on the drone via Finder

#

so the cable is definitely data capable

#

no other computers in this house though

cinder dragon
#

and it's a USB-C cable?

#

as opposed to micro-B?

blissful mica
#

yep its a usb-c to usb-a, then connected to the apple usb-c dongle

#

ive also tried straight usb-c to usb-c

ok, could you open an issue in the forums https://forums.adafruit.com. We do replacements through there. Redescribe what you said, and take clear pictures of the front and back if you can. Sounds like it needs to be replaced, but we just want to check a few more things.
