@upper needle - I have homebridge installed on another pi, and have a webhook that triggers a couple of homepods to play a song / soundbite.

Also push notification via Pushover to phone / watch

but how are the speakers connected? not sure what wires are involved here? seems like everything is over network.

I'm just wondering if length of the wires will be an issue.

Oh sorry - Doorbell wires from the physical button to the pi.

anything special about the button? or is it a normal switch closure type?

Just a normal open/close doorbell button that would close the circuit. Just wanted to make sure resistance wouldn't be an issue@

Probably about 20-30 ft of total wire in that circuit.
