I'm trying to add a very basic timekeeping watch to my Mandalorian cosplay, in the form of a small display built into my handplate, based on a Raspberry Pico W. My main thing is, I want to make sure that it doesn't need any sort of wifi signal or anything like that to keep the time up to date. I need it to be totally stand-alone.

Right now my hardware list is a Pico W and a 1.8" TFT display, other than a 3.3v power source (ideally something I can charge off USB?) what else would I need?

How much drift is acceptable? Iirc a RTC only drifts 10 seconds per year

You could use NTP to set the time when you do have WiFi

I have a question! My 9 year old son and I want to build a pocket watch together. I’d say our experience is beginner to moderate. We’ve done simple arduino and circuit projects and soldered a little. Would the Cowbell be a good fit for a beginner?
