Microchip has a new 8-bit microcontroller with hardware USB support. It's the AVR DU series (the biggest being the AVR64DU32).

This seems to fit similar uses as the old ATmega32U4.

What does Adafruit look for before considering a new chip?

Random Q, but I'm looking at trying to monitor the water level in my sump pump well and I'm getting mixed messages online as to what the "ideal" sensor would be to use (water pressure sensor? Ultrasonic Distance Sensors?) do you have a recommendation for which direction to go? Thanks in advance!

For next week too: Is there a reason (maybe cost? I know there is desire for minimal cost) for not using the MAX3421E for usb host on the fruitjam, as wouldn't that free up the pio for more things?
