I mostly use SMT parts. I am not sure when it is appropriate to use 0805, 0603, and 0402 sizes for my resistors and capacitors.

Currently I buy 0603 for almost everything to reduce the number of different parts I have.

Can you provide any rules you use when designing a PCB which would help me select the best size?
Are there common scenarios when a particular size is not a good choice?
