I have some devices I want to "smartify", and their only inputs/controls are cap sense buttons. Is there an easy and reliable way to trigger these via another MCU (likely ESP)? Some articles I found online say hooking it to a transistor to ground or a large piece of metal will work, others say that won't. Some say changing a GPIO pin between low output and floating input will work, some say it won't. Some say a relay or other physical disconnect is the only way to do it.
Does anyone have experience with and/or know of a reliable solution? I'd rather not rip the control panel apart before confirming a solution works, or find something that seems to work in testing but sporadically over the long term, etc.
