#first I did the bootloader only

switching to a thread to keep the clutter down, sorry I didn't before
When I do the hold BOOT/press RESET/release BOOT sequene, LED is green. Press reset after flashing is done and the LED turns red and immediately goes to green and I see MATRIXS3BOOT mount
if you have that you should be able to copy the CircuitPython UF2 file to it to install CP - I think that's actually what the Chrome helper does
no worries, i'll respond after doing a boot reset
I just manually copied adafruit-circuitpython-adafruit_matrixportal_s3-en_US-8.2.9.uf2 to MATRXS3BOOT and that worked for me, now I have CIRCUITPY
ok, then when I get the reset again I will use that method instead of the web process
the LED seems very modal
yea, it goes thru a lot of shifts
When I have MATRIXS3BOOT up, I get the rapid purple/red/green with no breaks
yea, they seem to be using it to show some status, waiting to get to a REPL to figure out why
that instruction to click during purple only seems relevant when CIRCUITPY is up - the LED is purple for a very quick second so if you want to get to MATRIXS3BOOT from CIRCUITPY, try clicking RESET, pause very very briefly then click again within less than a second from the first click - that should be while the LED was purple
once CP is installed a single reset click should take you back to CIRCUITPY
I feel like we need a flowchart labeled with both colors and times π
yea, often I am reading a few different versions of the flow because i've gotten to a page from another section and then lose track of "am I at the CIRCUITPY" or the "*BOOT" stage
I have to set up a few of these for signs we're putting up around our hackerspace, so it's good getting back to it anyway
once you get CircuitPython installed they're very nice boards
I was very happy they came back in stock
ok, your description of the led modes really helped
yay!
I was able to get it back into MATRXS3BOOT
awesome π
from there if you cp adafruit-circuitpython-adafruit_matrixportal_s3-en_US-8.2.9.uf2 to it you should be good (fingers crossed and no cosmic rays thank you very much)
awesome!
now comes the harder part - getting the idea in my brain into code
that's the fun part! π
there's always esptool too
Seems like the web installer worked out okay
But yeah if @untold bay sticks with the ESP32 long enough heβll definitely become friends with esptool π
one new thing at a time :)
