I'm trying to flash the ESP32C3 image, but I think it's bootlooping

#

I get ```ESP-ROM:esp32c3-20200918
Build:Sep 18 2020
rst:0x3 (RTC_SW_SYS_RST),boot:0xc (SPI_FAST_FLASH_BOOT)
Saved PC:0x403d14c8
SPIWP:0xee
mode:DIO, clock div:2
load:0x3fcd6100,len:0x1374
load:0x403ce000,len:0x8f0
load:0x403d0000,len:0x2c34
entry 0x403ce000

#

If the bootloader/ESP-ROM is over 2 years old, is it worth trying to update that first?

#

Chip is ESP32-C3 (revision 2)

#

Also happens with local esptool:

esptool.py v3.1
Serial port /dev/ttyUSB0
Connecting....
Chip is ESP32-C3 (revision 2)
Features: Wi-Fi
Crystal is 40MHz
MAC: 7c:df:a1:42:f2:74

Back: ESP32-C3-DevKitM-1 V1.6

#

Shield: ESP32-C3-MINI-1
D1H4

oh interesting, that's one we don't have I think

#

I encountered the same issue when trying to add another board that uses a MINI-1 H4 module

#

Is N4 referring to external flash?

sharp marsh
#

but I haven't had time to get back to it

#

yeah it's the size of the flash, but that's a different module than the one we have, Espressif's board and module names are confusing

Ah okay, good to know it's not a random issue! I can try have a look into it, thanks!

I think you should open an issue about supporting that board and module, with all the information on what is on the shield and back

Alright 🙂

I'm not sure if it's a kit Espressif sell [anymore], it was sent to me as a sample when they launched the C3
