Basically I bought a bunch of ASK/OOK modules from LSCS and AliExpress. This thread is just to consolidate my posts and clean up the channel a bit.
Testing so far includes:
Size
Cost
Idle Current
Active current (for transmitters)
Noisy Output (Pass/fail)
Speed test (1200,2400,4800 and 9600 BPS)
Surprisingly, none of the modules pass at 9600 BPS
No range tests have been done yet
So as far as size goes: Module T-2 and R4A offer the smallest size
All RX modules were pretty much the same as far as current consumption goes
However, the R2N was the lowest, at 800uA. However, it seemed to miss data at higher speeds. Using more preamble of 0xAA seemed to help. Otherwise, it was stable at 1200, and 2400 BPS.
Other variables I didnt test: Different transmitters with the "best" receiver, but they all performed relatively well, I dont think it was worth testing. I did note that R2N pared with T4A seemed to go well at 4800 BPS
Code is simple. Bot wont let me post. Puesdo code:
"0xAA"
"0xAA"
(preamble)
Send 10
Send 13
Send "RED"
Send ","
Send "GREEN"
Send ","
Send "BLUE"
Send 10
Send 13
In total its 18 characters being sent. Dont forget, each letter has its own byte value.

If anyone wants these modules to play with on their own, I dont mind sending you one, however, its up to my own discretion.
