@lavish patrol Good job. I represent Pfizer and PBS, and we're not quite on board.
I made doze!
Thanks, @wanton dome !
thanks you @slow spire , happy to help the OSH / OSS train keep chuggin' along
Rotary encoder and BLE HID actually working in a CircuitPython project!
Nice to see CP evolving.
pretty sure blinka has been eating her Wheaties℠ (Mousies?)
nice to see the rotary encoder project didn't leave JP spinning in circles
It's a well rounded project.
New things at every turn
As long as it leaves you pointing in the right direction.
It gives a new spin on things.
Newer stuff will get even more people to come around
This conversation has taken quite the turn.
It's a circus.
So many infinity mirrors, we'll need a gauntlet to hold them all.

well that's in my head now. THANKS
Lol.
Be sure to use a power supply capable of ∞A output.
@wanton dome Anything for a friend 👼
Now here I would just sandwich the film between two disks and skip the adhesion.
Or use some half-mirrored acrylic.
@slow spire That wouldn't look so good.
Half mirrored acrylic would look ok, though.
they used the half mirrored acrylic on the cube
You might be right about the sandwich.
I used glass on mine.

We used to have to maintain the guidance system of a particular missle at a certain temp so that the tiny tiny tiny gold wires wouldn't break if the suspension fluid got to thick or to thin and NOW, it's all on a tiny boeard. Awesome
so man letters and numbers. my brain. ow.
(*tiny board not tested for missile use.) 😄
Ours was as big as basketball and a brief case
@upbeat coral Missiles? Remind not to get on your wrong side. 😉
@wanton dome I suggested to a friend just starting to watch Ask an Engineer to watch it at 75% speed on YouTube.
I've typed all of those letters more times in the last few months than I care to think about
I'm really getting sold on this connector system. Sure beats breadboarding or using jumper wires/headers.
oh ya, totally. QUIIC/ QT is my bff. My desk is literally covered with them

@wanton dome I'm jealous haha
Lol.
Acronym overload.
@waxen thistle I am very privileged. ❤️ @open girder
This is such a cool demo.
@waxen thistle ICYMI:
https://twitter.com/siddacious/status/1215238311557521408
why is it called "Clue"?
I haven't a clue...
the purple pcb must awaken
@wanton dome An easy-to-use connector system is one of the ways I can attract more folks to get into the hobby/industry. Most are hesitant with breadboarding, as it needs a plethora of accouterments before one can actually make something.
It's emerald green...
@waxen thistle Really loved playing with the CPX when I got it because so much stuff already on the board.
That really is a nice green contract.
green pcbs are the new black pcbs
Lol.
Q: Was CP running on the teachable machine circuit playground demo that you showed on Monday? If not, can CP be used? I know its top secret...cant help myself 🙂
SPI-satz-haderach?
@slow spire exactly! And with the display-enabled boards too. These qwiic sensors are icing on the cake 🙂
how is the heat dissipation on the 1.5mm neopixels?
A gift I'll never be able to repay
Do you think Ivy league colleges like MIT are worth it , or why do you think they are so famous?
I asked about the Universal Qi Transmitter on youtube
Mmmmm. Caaake.
@open girder any chance of a chartreuse PCB? Or more purple?
@wanton dome Are those sensors approved by paul atreides?
I went to the University of Washington, not an ivy.
thank you for answering the teachable machine question. Its really powerful to do model creation using that tool...just super easy and takes the pain away from the training part. Can't wait to have webusb support on CP! the amount of projects using ML will explode!
Never let your schooling get in the way of your education. 🏫
@waxen thistle I love that quote.
I went to UDC...nobody knows the school (about 4k students) but ended up working as a EE
Thanks @open girder and good night. 🌘
its what you do in school that matters...just make stuff and you will be good 🙂
thanks for a great set of shows!
@open girder Thanks for another awesome evening of shows! Nice job to all those from the S&T, and for everyone behind the scenes!
Great again. Bye Bye
DOFFFFFFIMU!
Thanks, @open girder
@open girder gracias!
No give away?
MIT sucks. LOL
I think someone gave the phone away.
Must be signing off for the night...
Night all! See ya next week!
Night all.
Testing, testing.
This is Slappy speaking.
Slappy how?
Where's John?
Sorry, had a brief disagreement with a puppet about who's running the show. Slappy is now back in his box.
okay
His eyes are dark and lifeless. Was he also drooling a little sawdust there?
It's best we pretend that didn't happen. He's not happy about it.
Good afternoon all you wonde.......oh dear god, Slappy is back.
breathes deeply....mutters must not panic, must not panic.....
Okie Mr. Certainly, think happy thoughts.....hmm, fresh hot stromboli. warm blankets. adafruit discount codes.
heh. it's all going to be OK
That's exactly the sort of thing Slappy would say!!! 😛
Morning/Afternoon/evening all.
Bleeps and bloops are a Go!
I hear the bleeps and bloops.
You've called Slappy's bluff, @waxen thistle
But....was it ever a bluff?
Music levels are perfect!
I see there was some slap and tickle going on before my arrival. 😜
Hi everyone
Agreed, JP is a tad, smidge too quiet
Hmm. Tads and smidges. 🤔
Sounds much gooder 😛
But the Atom editor is free and open-sourced!
Mini bleeps and bloops!
little??
Lol.
today I used the USB keyboard prank moving the curser on the laptop of a coworker.
Also in MakeCode
"The Dark Side is Strong in this one"
Lol.
MakeCode is a pathway to many abilities that some old-school coders consider to be...unnatural.
hahaha
This is how we get the kids: show them how to prank their parents with MakeCode and CircuitPlaygroundExpress
not laughing at you, laughing next to you
👋
@cinder wind You say that now...
That volume knob has me spinning in circles.
ECG would be extension of the blood ox sensor and pulse that (i tnink) Dave Estels did.
The volume knob is revolutionary.
Hopefully it points folks in the right direction.
I'll give you a pointer.

That Apple Music Service in CircuitPython so cool! I bet it works on the Youtube app too
So cool! Will you have the code for download?
(John has A-ha in his iTunes library)
(Take On Me, I'll bet)
@tough rune It will most likely be put onto https://learn.adafruit.com -- it's not there at the moment, but JP is good with guides 🙂
What exactly is wrong with A-Ha?
@analog acorn Where to start? 😉
A-ha is awesome, but not something "the kids" listen to nowadays
1980s music 👍
I've been really digging some 1970s-1980s jazz and synth sounds from Japan. Stuff that's inspired and has been sampled for video game soundtracks, for example.
vangelis have some great ones
I was in college in the 80s, so I hve no problem with that.
Dire Straits - Love Over Gold
A good introduction to Japanese jazz-fusion is Casiopea.
This would be very cool on the PyPortal.
(Googling Casiopea)
[my love this genre started with a youtube video on inspiration for video game soundtracks from the 8 and 16 bit era]
Not Sanmyu?
This is an excellent demystification of Bluetooth AMS functionality.
Wow, that is WAY too loud....
Lol.
LOL at which, @lavish patrol
@analog acorn At the too loud comment. 😉
This is very cool. I like to use it for my MacMini running the music for the hole flat.
@lavish patrol Sorry to provide amusement, but my daughter is asleep and I'd rather she stay that way.
@analog acorn Understood.
Oxygene parts
Certainly for PyGamer, PyBadge since they have a nice FeatherWing connector on back.
Hallowing too, I'd imagine
Yup
Thank you for your time

Well you spoiled my project...
If you happen to be millenials, you may not know COBOL or COmmon Business Oriented Language. COBOL is primarily used in business, finance, and administrative systems, as a compiled English-like computer programming language, never for more bare metal purpose, not until now.

Ah, it's basically a robot kit which is programmable with an application with drag and drop blocks. (app works on mac, windows & chrome os) Students can build by using different components and code it, and then send the code to the board. It's like arduino in a way.

@eager sapphire I've seen worse. 😮
@lavish patrol - do not feel compelled to share those.
@eager sapphire Lol.
@haughty quiver The audio in the MakeCode Minute intro was a bit....off. Echoey?
all work well
The dancing is actually kinda nice.
Same with the MCM outro. Music was a bit off...

My work here is done. 🙂
µTesla = very tiny electric cars that carry the magnetic force
@cinder wind Lol.
puts on heart monitor made by Snarky Incorporated "So, it appears you -do- have a heart!" ....gee, thanks.
It doesn't work on vampires.
The Wikipedia page on "ventricle" reminds me of the 2nd Indiana Jones film -- the Temple of Doom.
Let's start telling JP the A/V's not working and see if his heartrate goes up
Lol.
These Feather Wing triplers / quadruplers / etc are such a great solution for cobbling together what could be long-lived solutions. Much better compared to Arduino shields (which were always a bit troublesome to stack) And Adafruit made the schematics open so you can create your own variants https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-FeatherWing-Proto-Doubler-Tripler-and-Quad
Agreed @cinder wind -- it's a great middle ground between breadboarding and purpose-built hard-soldered connections.
@haughty quiver Thanks for another awesome show! 💓
Thanks!
Thanks, @haughty quiver
thank you all very much!
Thanks for the show.

heh, that was a test to see who's still watching :)
Stay tuned for more...
now what's his heartrate? he should have the heartrate sensor in the background of all his shows
groovy
Heartrate on overlay?
how sad, definitely thought it was wednesday and would actually catch the shows live for once 🤦♂️

such a cute project

Hello, good people.

It's important to support local businesses. Imagine the horror if you don't.
Great project. I'm still having issues with the weather station though. I just can't get it to run.
@upbeat coral Did you post up in the forum?
Hi @gaunt plume , yea I even tried a few things @clear matrix pointed out to no avail. The code py file reaches a point in the secrets files and gives me a syntax error.

@upbeat coral did you try importing the secrets file into the normal Python3 REPL to test? syntax can be finickey so you may just have some little character out of place or missing
syntax errors are like stubbing your toes. Everyone does it, it sucks, and short of not walking anywhere you can't stop them from happening :O)

I've used the provided secrets, my secrets, a freshly coded secrets, a copy and pasted secrets with no change. I'm wondering if it my Mu and Win 10 setup. I'm thinking of trying it from me Pi4 next.
Otherwise, I love the 3d printed case and button setup.

36 CLUE in stock 🙂
Not for long
Between the plethora of sensors, BLE, and the ridiculously sharp screen....I just dipped my toes into the Micro:Bit ecosystem because of it.
I usually ordere two of every thing. I like to have a backup in case of catastrophic failure.
Kattni's CLUE library is also available in the bundle:
https://circuitpython.org/libraries
@wanton dome SWEET. Thanks
One person's catastrophic failure is another's standard operating procedure 😉
Can't get a whammy bar off the shelf? that sounds like a challenge.....
Like "How many itterations does a bug live through before it becomes a feature"
realizes they just showed off their 3D printed version
@waxen thistle I think that's SpaceX's modus operandi...
At first, that 3D printed version looked like a cartoon character -- white body, blue feet. Like a Galapagos bird 🙂
Waddles side to side.
@rocky reef You can probably make a hall-effect-ish one based on the TLV493:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4366
The TLV493D 3-axis magnetometer is a great little sensor for detecting magnets in 3D. In fact, the manufacturer Infineon suggests it could be used to make a joystick! You could also use it ...
....I'm honestly surprised the bot let that slide through. Hence why I danced around it.
It's even smiling!
I took a dive so you don't have to...
one of the TLV's primary purpose was making joysticks, and a mod wheel/whammy bar is basically a 1-D joystick
How fast can that whammy bar do the Kessel run?
@waxen thistle Certainly under par-sec
folks watching this show will appreciate this twitter. It's AMAZING:
https://twitter.com/mechamechanisms
@rocky reef how many hours total for the rifle?
you guys need to print a fireplace/mantle to hang that over
Noe & Pedro's 3D printed armory is probably better than The Mandalorian's armory on his ship.
@wanton dome around 105hrs 😅
I had my headphones on and didn't hear my hemera being delivered so they didn't 😦
That's a lot of hours.
😭
6% infill?
why not 5% did you do some test that showed that extra percent was needed/better?
See yens t'nite. Be safe y'll
thanks folks, cheers!

@cyan holly I'm happy to help with anything; drivers, hardware testing/bringup, whatever. Either way I'll be seein' ya' in NY 😉
Seriously speaking, these solderless breadboards are some of the best I've used. Other ones I have from a former brick-and-mortar radio supply store fell apart -- the layers delaminated so easily.
But not Adafruit's boards, they're super rock solid.
@wanton dome awesome, we should hopefully have a few for developers soon
@haughty quiver Check out flash photography filter gels -- they sometimes come in booklets of dozens of colors (like a sampler book), and they're about the size of a feather.
Search for "swatch book" on your favorite photography supply website.
@cyan holly sweet! I'm finally going to do all those things you suggested in your email 😬
i love the water animation on the screen
It's called a flood fill. 😉
@pearl shoal What is the brand of the joystick you showed on Show & Tell?
