As the title says, looking for suggestions for both of those subjects since my server is lagging due to the large quantity of mobs spawning/existing.

Heya. Are you running Forge, Fabric or Spigot/Paper? What version of MC and how much RAM does your server have?

I’m running Forge 1.20.1 and I’m running 8gb

Your best bet will be to:

Lower the view distance, this will lower the distance from the player in which mobs can spawn.

This is in your server.properties file. It's default is 10, I'd recommend anywhere from 6-8.

Mods that can possibly help:

If you have people running around generating more world, this will cause insane amounts of lag, You are best pregenerating the world with https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/world-pre-generator
(Make sure no one is online when using this)
