If you have 2 (or more) cooking devices within interaction distance, just having 1 disabled means you cannot use the others, despite the craft menu saying you can.
Example: a Brick Oven and an Electric Stove are next to each other. The Electric Stove is not powered/off. The Furnace is on. You cannot craft "Enclosed Heat Source" items despite the Furnace being on, even if the crafting menu says it is available, because the nearby Electric Stove is non-functional.
There's multiple interactions where this can go wrong, arguably too many to list... but the main thing is that if 1 thing doesn't work, the rest don't either.
