You would need to make an UI (effect) with a "text slot" (cannot remember the name sorry)
Your plugin should interact with the UI to display the remaining seconds

Can't you make a function that subtracts one to a variable every second?

I don't know much about plugins but i guess that is possible

I dont think there are alternatives to this

Especially if you want a dynamic timer (the player can see how much time remains)
