The Champion’s Challenge + champion scrolls minigame is a very cool piece of content, with lots of unique enemies - but a fairly pointless one currently only done for collection log completion & a cool looking cape.
Proposals:

  • Make champion scrolls much, much more common - say 1/200 rather than 1/5000.
  • Each time you get a champion scroll you can bring it to the Champion’s Guild & fight that champion.
  • Rematches with a scroll will give HP & slayer XP much like the original fight.
  • Track total wins against each champion.
  • After X (25?) wins with a scroll, their banner/tracking will gain change color, indicating you’ve completed that champion.
  • Upon completing all champions, you can fight Leon & claim the champion’s cape.

Not sure exactly what the odds here should be, but basically the goal is to make the scrolls more common but you have to get a bunch of them to still complete the minigame, preserving the “RNG grind” showoff while making this a more accessible minigame.

Other small changes:

  • Make most of the champions significantly harder, since anyone doing this has at least beaten elvarg & hundreds of little enemies & therefore has a pretty reasonable combat level.
  • Add a bank to the Champion’s Guild basement, since most of the fights requiring some specific gear setup.
  • After winning a few fights, get a “scroll holder” which can hold any number of champion’s scrolls to save bank space.

Why?

Aside from just making this cool content more accessible & making the fights potentially actually interesting to the right audience, the slayer XP drops could be an actually nice training reward.

Another way of thinking about this (and the reason I chose a 1/200 drop rate) is “add 10 new superior variants for old monsters”, except the superiors are instead the already designed champions & they are fought later with scrolls rather than immediately upon spawning.

With changing the champion cape requirements to have more KC is how will you handle those who already own the cape? Just take it away?

Also, with earth warriors, which is Wildly content, that's already the biggest gripe a lot of people would have. Unless we add a new location non-Wildly to house $9?3 (I think a variant in the Doom dungeon accessed during Final Dawn could be perfect. The whole place is already very earth and mud themed to begin with).

I wouldn't mind seeing the challenges being repeatable though.

Although I would much rather see the other sitting champions being able to be challenged after you meet certain requirements.

For example, the Gnome Champion after MM2. Elf Champion after SotE.

But things like Dwarf and Werewolf probably would need some kind of thematic continuation or conclusion of Morytania/Dwarf quest line to have a fitting requirement.
