Specifically because of the outrage surrounding the Sailing Combat rework, I wanted to take the time to say: I love this update to Sailing combat and think it's a huge step in the right direction.
Two cannons on the same side feels amazing. Fire at will feels amazing. Reducing my cannonball consumption by ~60% per hour feels amazing. And the fantasy of my max combat high geared boss killing world saving hero character still being better than an NPC firing a cannon feels amazing.
If Jagex decides to go in the direction of Sailing combat being a fourth combat style, with gear and consumables etc built around increasing damage, then fine, I'll still have fun. But, if instead they stay the course on having Sailing combat still largely be my character vs the ocean enemies with my crew and ship increasing my DPS and acting as my tank, then I'm over the moon.
This feels like the character fantasy I imagined when Sailing entered OSRS. Not an isolated minigame with all of its own gear to grind and content that exists solely within a closed Sailing specific loop. But my existing character, with all his high damage numbers and over inflated ego, taking to the high seas. It's like our (max level) characters are already at New World level but we're just starting off in the Grand Line (for all my OP fans out there 😉 )
