#More Dragons with More Heads

Since we already have so many different kinds of dragons, it would be pretty interesting to see dragons with more heads, We already have monsters with multiple heads like the Hydra, Colossal Hydra, Alchemical Hydra, Cerberus, and of course KBD himself, but we can do better!

For example, a twin headed dragon might have 1.5x the combat level of a regular dragon of the same type, count as 2 on slayer tasks, drop 2x bones/bars/hides, roll twice for a visage, and/or use double hit-splat attacks.

I was also thinking it would be interesting to create a new combination dragon that contains multiple different dragon types together. Conceptually I think of this as being called a Chimeras. Specifically I was thinking of three variants:

  • Twinflame Chimera (2 heads - Frost, Lava)
  • Chromatic Chimera (4 heads - Green, Red, Blue, Black)
  • Metallic Chimera (6 heads - Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, Adamant, Runite)

The Chimeras would be considerably more dangerous than regular dragons. They would be bosses with more heads being harder. While you would be attacking the body, the different dragon heads could all be attacking in rapid succession for a fast attack speed and potentially multiple attack styles (think Cerberus souls).

Upon reaching a certain HP threshold, it would trigger a special attack phase:

  • 33%, 66% for Twinflame
  • 25%, 50%, and 75% for Chromatic + Metallic

Special Attacks would include:

  • A rotating fire breath attack similar like the windmill pattern on the Elidinis' Warden fight.
  • Lobbing giant fireball projectiles like Vorkath or Kephi. These would target random tiles on the floor with an area (3x3) affect instead of targeting the player's tile

Since the Metallic Chimera is the hardest, it will actually be performing BOTH special attacks at the same time each phase. The weaker Chimeras would alternate between the two special attacks for each phase. The weaker chimeras would also have a lesser number of larger sectors in its rotating fire breath attack.

I actually ran out of space in the main body so the final section is here.

For lore/quest tie ins, I see a ton of potential with future dragon lore (Dragon Slayer 3?). The Dragonkin were already very much experimenting on dragons and it would not be too much of a stretch to say they could have been created by them. The chimeras could serve as quest bosses with a post-quest versions as well.

Alternatively, I think they could make an interesting addition to a future Dragon themed raid. Perhaps in the Fractured Archives we will learn what happened to the Stone of Jas and what the Dragonkin have been up to, and that could lead into this.

just to add some info, dragons are very explicitly created by the dragonkin

also, raids 4 is a side story that won't be required for the mahjarrat questline, so it's not likely we'll see Lucien or the Stone here

i dont think this is a terrible idea but i do think it devalues kbd and hydra, in the matter that theyre considered the strongest form of their species.

This is largely the brain dump of what went through my head when I got Metal->Black->Metal tasks b3b from Duradel 😂 I started with "two headed metal dragons" to make this task 2x faster and then just kept adding more ideas from there.

The relatively small gaps between the different dragons (especially black dragons and KBD) does present some scaling issues but then I remembered KBD is not even the strongest black dragon. Brutal black dragons are in Zeah Catacombs already, and even brutal Red dragons are also higher level than KBD.

I think the bosses could either be scaled up for a quest or raid, or scaled down for slayer and it could work well either way. They could also be split up for different activities, e.g.:

  • Chromatic Chimera could be a slayer boss
  • Metallic Chimera could be a quest or raid boss

Twinflame Chimera would have even more options I think:

  • Could be a new Wilderness boss in keeping with Lava dragons being there but actually in a pvp area unlike KBD. I actually saw a map somewhere of a new Wilderness island proposing level 50-60 wilderness and that might be a good option for something like this, though I am not sure where I saw it
  • Could also be added to Grimstone Island or dungeon. An expansion of the area with lava themes would help it fit in

Some explanation on why they are where they are may be required if they were split up. Maybe the weaker ones escaped while the Dragonkin were trying to contain the stronger one or something to that effect.

That’s not the one I saw earlier but that one looks significantly more complete.

The one I’m thinking of was a relative simple map with just an island roughly north from agility course if I recall correctly. I will take another look tomorrow and see if I can find it again
