Why implement an item in a game when no one asked for it and serves no purpose? You got the diving helm and aparatus cape for ironmen who do big sea weed runs. Now you got coral reefs which are borderline useless but okay, few ironmen want it. Mains? Not worth the gp. So you're switching between having to wear x y item to wearing a z item. But not only that, not only is it NOT usable for the big seaweed, but it actually does NOT allow you to dive at all while wearing it. And who cares if you have to wear a helm + cape or amulet anyway? At least with the barb farm update, you save an inventory slot by not having a seed dibbler anymore. And the amulet would be marginally useful if you have a farming cape, as an iron, and still do big seaweed runs, since you HAVE to wear the cape to get the tiny 5% farming boost. And even then, what happens if you wear the farm cape and not aparatus? You don't die. You can usually do the entire run in one oxygen breath, and even if you let it run to zero, you waste a few seconds on a cutscene and get sent back up.

The only way that this would be redeemable is if it was a permanent unlock for breathing underwater similar to barb training seed dibbler. Not a wearable item.

I'm criticizing something completely different here, it's not about the amulet itself. It shows that jagex doesn't think some items through before implementing them.

Please don't tell me that an item like this had the risk of being "too overpowered".

Just let it be used for seaweed runs and it'd be great! There's already a check for diving gear prior to starting the underwater agility course; it'd be pretty simple to add this to the check. Ideally, they'd let you attach it to the sailor's amulet, too, but that's not totally necessary to be useful.

I have a feeling it's going to play a pretty important role in future quests, to be honest.
