#Rework cannons to both fire regardless of where you are facing.

I see people exploiting the front of the boat trick to fire both cannons on all sea creatures to increase their damage... so then why do we beat around the bush? (there is no logical way either of those cannons could shoot directly infront of the boat from their positions) a broadside feels more right when the target is on the side of the ship. so just let the cannon fire even if it is facing the other direction (move the targeting point to the center of the boat (kinda like the salvaging hooks) instead of where the cannons are facing.

rather they do either or both

  • 30 degree cross section at the front of the boat (could tilt cannons 15 degrees toward the front to make it visually make sense)
    • would be even ok with losing 30 degrees of firing range from the back of the boat for this
  • allow 2 cannons to be built on the same side of the boat but limit cannons to 2 per boat

agreed, it seems dumb that you can just face the boat towards something from the front and hit them from a completely impossible angle but if you arn't doing that, you are shooting yourself in the foot

i believe something more realistic (like your suggestion with 2 on one side or the angling being nessisary) or simple balancing by allowing both to hit is a better system
