Captains log did not update after consuming crate drink

I opened the crate next to the Piscatoris Fishing Colony, got the drink, drank it, spoke like a fish for a few minutes, but the captains log never updated to complete the charting. I went back to the crate, and was unable to get a second drink to re-complete the charting. I relogged soon after while on my boat, got teleported to some random port when I logged back in.

“Find a sealed crate north west of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony and sample the contents.”
Sea - southern expanse
Ocean - shrouded ocean

I should add that I am a mobile only player, primarily playing on the app using my ipad.
