Great work on making the new Moons armour degradable and at least the blood moon feels like it will be useful against the blood moon as well as npcs weak to crush. This should help to be a money sink for the game.

IMO all new BIS armour and any new armour should require a repair cost like Barrows and Moons armour. In fact all armour should require repair as no armour can realistically just automatically maintain itself with the beating we put it through.

Masori, Torva, Ancestral should all require upkeep and if it is too late since they are introduced already then any improvements to BIS should be degradable.

It's ridiculous how much money we bring in to the game with high alc since it just creates an uncontrollable amount of ingame money. Having a gold sink that is thematically realistic like maintaing gear just makes sense.

Having people use Barrows and Moons armour and get more used to the aspect of maintaining armour is a good first step and I think with some improvements to Barrows armour will help to get people using it more and getting more accustomed to paying to maintain their armour.

it does? what source did you use to find that out?

masori has upkeep indrectly from being used with blowpipe/tbow, torva has upkeep indirectly from being used with a scythe and bfury, ancestral has upkeep solely based on the fact that magic costs gp to use

Honestly scales are dirt cheap if you are a main from all the gold farmers and bots running Zulrah. With about 70 - 80% of your ammunition saved through your ava's device I find it hard to compare your proposed upkeep of Masori through blowpipe/tbow. Granted rhe 20% of ammunition lost could be dragon arrows/darts but usually the content that you yourself Dragon on usually spits out an amount of Dragon ammunition that can up keep that 20% us lose. If feel if Masori had a similar cost as Barrows of straight gp to repair you are still gaining wherever you use it. If you decide to use I for your low level Slayer grind after maxing combats in Nightmare maybe you will feel its such a waste to wear it and lose the charges but then you could wear some other armour that doesn't degrade. Saving your BIS for where it counts.

As for money coming in to the game at an uncontrollable amount and their need for a gold sink they had a whole blog post on it last year where they literally hired a couple of economists to analyze the game for them to try to think of gold sinks and other ways to better manage the in game economy. Soon after this we saw the GE tax and deaths coffer. Two great ways to passively sink gp in the game.

I the Scythe and Magic are a better sell on these Combat styles costing more but I'm still not sold on the idea BIS armour shouldn't degrade.
