One thing I really liked about rs3 was how much shit you actually unlock
It made me look at how barren osrs is

"What do I unlock for the next 20 levels?"

Obviously there's always a healthy middle ground to find but it feels like RS3 at times you unlock shit just to unlock
If there's no meaning in the method you unlock was there any point to actually implementing it?
Herblore as a skill is improved by useful stuff coming from it
The only real issue is bloating with shit potions that shouldn't exist, and overloads which require 32 items

I put like 10 mins of thought into trying to get an estimate by going
(Total delves - deep) / 7 = entries
( Deep / entries ) + 7 = avg depth
But that shit is so far off bc most of my delves are 15-20 after I figured it out and so many of my total are from burgering s8 on release đ
Maybe if you have a massive sample size, it can be kinda close
takes a little math, but you can now find the totally useless information of how dry you are for pet if you want to

awakener orb revamp to be 1 time unlock or loot system similar to bryo were you can do the bosses, but wont get loot unless you got a key.
Contract rework to do the same as above (we have pizza already but thats still ironman punishment and doesnt cover the oathplate contracts)
Delve skip to 3 or 6 (3 is when you get acid and 6 is when the floor changes) skipping 1 and 2 or 1-5 doesnt have a huge impact on delving deep.
while farming the treads having to do 1-3 and being bored out my mind till i get to 8 (since the loots so bad, i dont got anything to excite me to keep going) its very difficult to grind the boss esp with no glowy holes for 800 delves now.

Only reason a delve skip failed during intial proposal, is because they keep trying to make it a key and not just an unlock due to achivement.
no1 wants to have to pay a fee to skip past boring wave 1-3. but if you made it to like delve 12 or something an it unlocked the ability to skip past 1-3 or even starts you at wave 6 because 12 is 2x 6 meaning your already proficient in delving and the arena wipes itself on 6, so its basically a brand new fight (think of it like expert toa or CM)
the trade off is you give up unique roll chances from wave 2-5 which is pretty big
its kinda sad they didnt do more with delving and achivement unlocks to cause people to want to go deeper. like beat deleve 15 and unlock small QOL perks (better teleport to delve, deleve skips) currently its just a system in which you go do boring waves untill you get to the part you are good at like wave 8 +
and kc for the boss dont even show up till wave 8....

Delve skip failed because it would be more work on them to have separate boards for certain skips, and that allowing skips would devalue the content more. Now you also mentioned that reaching certain delves could merit some small stuff and that I do agree with and it could incentivize folks to push the content more

You can get treads before you even see 2 of the boss mechanics
but also treads starting 6+ is peak because of arena change
not really only wave 8 shows in high scores, 1-3 skip would do nothing to the current board, it would just show more deeper completes. your still giving up 2 unique rolls to skip.
everything that happens pre-6 doesnt matter, it introduces you to the mechanics, but the arena is cleared and the fight is changed.
1-5 is just a time waste for most players.
Itâd just skew it and Jagex is known to not update that type of stuff

It's still not a good basis for saying where "hard mode" starts. There are steep drop-offs in terms of completions with every increasing floor (besides 1 to 2 perhaps). The room clears of acid yes, but the mechanics are barely different from 5.

failure rate and stopping rate is not the same. A large proportion of people doing the content just stops at a certain wave and resets.

Doom HM starts on 6 that is when the arena changes thats when he has his full array of mechanics that are nerfed down a bit. 7 is when your introduced to 1 tick orbs an then 8 is when the difficulty really ramps up.

Skipping delves as a whole doesn't really make sense with how the content is designed. It's supposed to get harder as you go. If you just skipped to 8 because it's the most fun with the purpose of delving deep then what would be the difference from just doing a regular boss with no ramp-up mechanics?
Like I said before, 1-5 is a time sink that the game balances drop rates around.
If you could skip directly to 8+, thatâs effectively reducing the grind massively since you go from 8-9 hours a unique to like 2 hours lol
Yeah, you need a major tradeoff for it to work. Either a monetary cost, or level 8 difficulty, but reduced rates until you have done a certain amount of them. It might've worked if the difficulty progression was much longer, but with only 8 levels it just doesn't.
By skipping 1-5 and Tass never mentioning anything about adjusting drop rates or any tradeoff in general (typical), this just screams "buff this cuz I'm dry for treads"

i didnt discuss that, because the topic was just a delv skip obviously there would have to be trade offs. and part of that trade off is 4 unique roll chance rolls.
If you skip to wave 6 for example, and you start from there with the rate for that wave, then you do not lose any rolls from having skipped 1-5. You simply start on a much better rate.

Just wanted to pop in and say I really appreciate that work has been done on the poh backend! These updates aren't as flashy, but clearing up that tech debt has so much value. There are so many cool additions and improvements that seem to have been impossible due to poh code being especially spaghetti and so it's huge to see it cleaned up a bit. I love the whole idea of the poh and if this means that some of the annoyances can be ironed out and some new features/ways to decorate can be added it's really cool

If it matters, I do think the change to the random event is good
I get people like their quirky cheese, and don't begrudge people who would rather it stay, but random events are already so minor and opt outable that my preference would be for them to just work as expected. I was also happy when the maze random event was updated to no longer allow you to get max prize if you kept logging out iirc, and while this isn't nowhere near as mildly annoying as that was it's the same vibe to me
Idk if this is the right channel for this kind of stuff or question but I was wondering since the official client via Jagex Launcher runs on a translation layer on MacOS: Are there currently any plans on providing a native Client for MacOS ? I couldnt find anything on the Runescape forums or Reddit or even here in the search.
I am aware you can run runelite via the Jagex Launcher but I think a native client could offer better performance in comparison to Runelite as well as a Client running on Rosetta 2 (Apples Translation layer for ARM)
Quirks and features like this (and the community working within that to get the most out of it that they can) are core to the identity of this game. At a minimum, removing something like this should be polled, similar to the Clue scroll despawn timer.

The despawn timer was an intentional change, this is a bug fix
There are lots of quirks I like, and lots I don't. There's obviously a line between emergent gameplay neat tricks and cheating/actually breaking the game, even if they both fall under the umbrella of messing with the underlying system to do unexpected stuff. Obviously I don't think this was as far as actually cheating, but it was over my line of what I think is a cool interaction into mildly negative cheese. Everybody has a different line here.
I don't think it's worth a poll though, it's a super minor part of a random event most people ignore and was never intended. Clue scroll timer actually impacts people

I think this is very much in the category of doesn't really matter lmao, but I thought I'd share my opinion as you asked if anybody actually wanted this. Most people comment when they dislike an update but not very often if they like it, so it can be hard to tell how people feel I think

I assume that random little fixes like this are either things that got cleaned up by fixing other systems (eg maybe dialogue code got slightly improved and removed this, and manually readding a bug would be weird), or a small inconsequential update to test a new process or a new employee so that if it goes wrong it's nbd
I don't want devs not fixing bugs because people think they're "interesting ways of interacting with a game world".
They just did a bunch of backend fixing with this update so my money would be on the code being slightly cleaned up, slightly cleaned up this random event

this particular random (that actually benefitted the player) and none of the other far more broken ones
