If you use a 5t weapon the dps is trash and you get a ranged echo proc once a minute, blindbag procs every 12 seconds for like 4 extra dps
being able to remote hit 5 scythes from 7 tiles away with crystal bonus seems very fun

If you use a 4 hit double hitting weapon, your blindbag dps skyrockets to an incredible 10 dps. Just barely beating a whip without thorns

melee in leagues tends to not be as good as the other styles but its usually way more fun than the others in practice and ive missed out on that

Cerb dagger + thorns is my personal favourite melee build
I like the idea of building mastery’s around an echo wep
Plus you can easily add in a mage elemental build while keeping thorns, with kandarin and asgarnia

i think the build of the league will be prayer air mage
and its more complicated: gear switch with cbow /echo cbow" build
i dont like the cerb dagger because you need to spam specs

also doesnt work with fire rune regen node which is a massive dps loss

Put on torva, a dfs, torture, ultor, treads, you get a max hit in the 40s, add on the 40% you're hitting about 30dps with the min hit
standard combat spells are always 5 tick / 3tick with the pact node?

Now, that's a lot of gear, but so is 5 scythes, it's just a bit less dps with Bandos etc

I got to around 31 dps with dogger. And then another 27 thorns damage, which is 9 dps vs a typical 5t boss.
And then the dogger specs can be considered to add roughly 10% dps

Sounds about right. You can get thorns a bit higher, plus if you sacrifice some dps, you can wear echo boots and a suffering to overcharge the recoil to like 70

So in 12.5 attacks you trigger the 27 damage 2.25x, so 60.75 damage over 15s period = 4 bonus dps
And the spec in that period is 1 free 0 time hit, so 13.5/12.5 = 1.08x more hits
So 31*1.08 + 4

Am doing lithic + sang. Wildy, Mory, Tirranwn. Refill spec in 30s with 2% per tick, spam thammaron/ayak specs and take all 195% accuracy on tree so I can mage anything regardless of magic defences

if i'm looking right A tank thorn builds with full justicar, dihns bulwark, echo boots and ring of suffering ri. Is crazy good, especially if it procs of stuff like AoE. If a boss drops down an aoe that constantly procs low damage, and you just stand on it, the boss would take constant damage. I think it ended up being like 22 damage per tick then 11 more for second hitsplat, with 0 Damage. and then if you do get hit. 33 Damage from the thorn. Then 10%+1 +19 then half that twice.

When it says 1% of total defense bonus if it means adding up stab,slash,crush,magic and ranged then 1% of that is the added damage.

so for dinhs+suffering/justi, that's like 1960, so ~+19, plus the 3 base thorns (or the 1 from recoil), so 20+10+20+20 when something actually hits you
Plus dihns by itself can hit 65 with peity and super pot, and 130 with spec.
max defence with thorns is around 22 dmg per hit splat, so recoil, echo boots and thorns would give you 3x(22+11) = 99 recoil per hit (if you don't get hit a 0)
Issue is you have to get hit for recoil/echo, so it’s unreliable. Best approach is to pair thorns as a secondary dmg source imo
"whenever you're attacked"... it depends on if it properly attributes damage to enemies, yeah. you could stand on, say, xarpus poison and just shred him

Just thorns damage by it's is pretty strong, you can basically just run in and go afk and kill anything.
There's next to no difference between dinhs and dfs in terms of thorns damage, so you might as well throw in a whip or a dogger
Though I donno if aoe's or venom or poison counts
I feel like blindbag would be a lot more fun if the blindbag chance capped out at 20% instead of just 10%

Yeah the 35 comes from +21 min hit damage being 7 tiles away
I was so hopeful for blindbag to be like 50% so we could actually get somewhere
it is a bit funky with 2handers being 4tick minimum
actual proc rates on that part of it are lower for sure
I'm half tempted too drop fremminik and sacrifice a little extra defense and 3% magic strength. And take mortanyia. So I can try out both my earht build and tank/thorns build

Sure i'd lose some defense stats from battle hat, and a few % ranged damage. But it'd mean that I can respec to thorns build when I get all the gear and decide which I prefer then respec back
3% is only like 1-2 damage extra.
The main loss is the defensive bonus from ancestral hat and battle helmet

I think asgarnia dogger dfs thorns is by far the strongest melee build

honestly can pick just about anything starter, get a peri moon set and be good even up to DT2 bosses, respec when you get the items you want

I just wanna sanity check with y'all: Would it be ok not to take grimoire or Desert as a mage build, meaning no ancients? If I'm grabbing the Kandarin echo weapons which are all about elemental damage, then I'm thinking ancients aren't quite so necessary
it's 100% proc for the melee hit with that one spell active
btw anyone using the dps calc if you have the "ranged echoes" nodes, it's throwing off your entire dps calc because its adding in those range echo max hits. like by alot
so as long as i'm within melee range (which is 2 thanks to the one pact) i've got the 25% chance for BB and 20% range echo chance from every hitsplat after that

i calced for smoke, it does indeed hit higher, however the sheet does say that it's not correctly calcing for water
even assuming i'me 2 spaces from the things getting hit by melee, that's 2 hp at 10% chance
every single league where kandarin is a scam and they said ok ok look we get it, we'll give you every piece of mage gear except shadow in kandarin, and make shadow less OP than other options
and finally kandarin is allegedly worth taking.

The bice thing about standsrd spellbook is the prayer regen from wind rune regen
the downside is that kandarin still puts barb assault on your task list and that's terrible

on a similar note, just straight up use dragon claws at al times, you dont get blindbags, but you do get +1 range, -1 attack speed, the ranged echoes, extra strength, and the double hit, so if you stay at 2 range in general you regen 6% spec every 3 ticks

I see. You sure that's the only way? I've seen people theory craft that melee can get more % range echo chance from the first crossbow pact that gives +15% chance. Since that pact you mentioned says "as if you have a crossbow, bow, and thrown weapon equipped". I doubt it though. Seems like a stretch.
you can, the node that lets you get them also says it acts as if you have all 3 types of ranged weaopns equipped
