Honestly, in my vision a lot of stuff would be missing, altough the level editor might alredy have some pretty decent progress done on it.
As for the story mode, i would assume the worlds wouldnt be that explored, since they may have barely put a dent in the story mode, and, from what i saw in the recaps, they dont fully know how to implement the collectable items.
Even if the game were to release in 5-ish months, like stated on my previous post, it will most likely not be complete, altough still functional.
I appreciate the fact that the developers seem to be putting a lot of effort into this game, and i really hope its successfull in the long run!
i know for a fact no story level concepts have been made yet
and the recap posts paint a very good picture of the level editor
(its insanely incomplete)

its not a beta
its a pre-alpha
you dont really do open pre-alphas
(unless you're open source)
I think once the base of the mechanics are finalized, we'll see some concept level designs for sure, before any finalization of story levels.
I really want to see the game in action in video format IMO. Then compare each stage up until the release.
Its always cool to see what was missing from the game early on, compared to the final product 
the entity has been patched out

anyway, now, that i've seen the footage
i still think the open beta would be a campaign-less beta
but it'd have a nearly complete version of the editor
most of the visual polish would be there, but i think some icons for certain specific tweaks MIGHT be missing
the goal of the beta would be to bug test the editor to make sure it's ready to ship
it would also focus on making changes to make the layout better for beginner creators
that'd make a lot of sense actually!
the beta would also serve as B-roll fodder for the launch trailer
