Once in a while I can't steam login.
I have already posted about it a few months ago (in aoc section), and NobleMaster said it's problem on my side, not being properly logged in into steam.

However I literally never have had such problems with another game, and I could steam login into other games WHILE I had problems with it in AoC/DoN, so there clearly is a problem. Sometimes I have to restart steam, sometimes to reboot.
Also I am a linux user, so maybe others don't have this issue at all.

If it's hard to figure out, is there at least any way to manually login into my account, so I don't have to reboot my computer when I just want to launch the game for a few minutes?

Restarted computer, and steam multiple times, still can't login.

It's a network problem if you cannot login. Maybe rebooting your WiFi router fixes the problem? What's the exact error message you are getting?

I don't know what the password is, I guess it's somewhere on steam servers. Can I access it somehow, to not rely on steam login???

The message is:
Error logging in to server: "Steam I/O-Error encountered.". Please make sure you have a reliable connection to the internet.

But as I said earlier I do not have such problems in other games, but it happens once in a while in AoC/DoN, and I never had to do anything with WiFi to fix it, just restart steam/computer/wait, so I don't think it's WiFi.

I am afraid I may soon run out of time to make moves in some games, so it would be nice if you answered this question.

~24h still can't login, two reboots, and nothing wtf??? First time it's so persistent.
And in 30-60min I will lose a turn in my favourite match :((( 😭

Sorry for the late reply. I thought maybe the Steam API was down (but it wasn't the case it seams).

Looks like the API call to Steam broke for some reason (after it worked for years). I rewrote the network connection code & just uploaded a new server release. The login should now work again. Sorry for the troubles.

Let me know if there is still a problem (but it should be OK now).

If it was API call to steam, why was I the only one to say anything about it??? 🤔
And yeah it works now.

Still would be cool to know if I can somehow login into steam account manually if something like that happens in the future???

That's the problem: if just 1 player says something, it's generally a network problem. That said, I should have checked myself. Somehow, from one day to the next, the Steam API couldn't be called anymore via the regular network method. It's odd. Maybe they moved things behind a load balancer or so, that's why the originally socket-based call gave a timeout.

re-Direct Login: you login to the game directly also (same account). Login via Steam, then click the top/right head icon and go to settings via the bottom/left cog icon. There take note of the "Login Username". Set a password (by default there is none if you login via Steam). You can now use the "Login Username" and password to login from anywhere else (purchases transfer).

It circumvents the Steam login check. So if Steam is down, you will still be able to login to the game that way.
