I found some unexpected behaviour, possibly a bug, in the diplomacy system.
So I've just revealed a lot of the galaxy through a Galaxy Map sharing treaty, and I met a lot of new races.
The way diplomacy is handled with this new group is odd: when I try to initiate First Contact, the option to do so is not available in my list of treaties, but it is in theirs. So you can get First Contact by requesting it from their list.
Afterwards, I can ask for the usual full list of treaties without getting the Consulate first, which again must be pulled from their list of Treaties rather than mine.
If I take a Resource Status treaty without first getting the Consulate, you can see the Resources as usual, but if you get a Research Progress treaty you can't see their research.
You can remedy this by selecting "Consulate" from their list, and things settle. So not a game-breaking issue but confusing for sure.
