The Chosen is a heroic 5e campaign starting at 4th level and going through at least 10th. It is inspired by the three kingdoms era and is set in my homebrew world. You have all been invited to a banquet and ball of Emperor Long Xiang. For one reason or another, you're there. Maybe your part of the kitchen staff, maybe you're a soldier or guard that has been invited as a special recognition of valor, maybe you're a representative of a respected adventuring or trading company, maybe you're a dignitary of a foreign land or a noble in this one. Perhaps your part of the wizard corps amongst the king's court wizards. For whatever reason, you're at the ball tonight.
The tone of the night, while festive, is also tense. The court is clearly uneasy, as recent incursions by enemies of the crown on the kingdom's borders and assassination attempts on the king have left the crown's authority weakened. To make matters worse, an ancient curse placed upon the land even older than the kingdom that controls it now is showing signs of re-awakening, and many are scrambling to uncover what, or who, may be able to tap into this power before something terrible happens.
The evening will not go as you planned- something will happen. Something that will forever change your life and embroil you in a conflict that your name will echo in the tales of history for a long time. It's up to you how they will remember you: As a mighty hero, a dastardly rogue, or something else entirely.
Through destiny, chance, or grit you are Fated. Your life is intertwined with events and history far beyond your humble origins and what you choose to do with it will leave a mark. This will be a heroic campaign starting at 4th level and going through a minimum of 10th.
