An object can have it's surface area extended by using a variety of different gadgets to create a vault prompt on it. Basically, if an object is not anti-vaulted or anti-landing zoned, and the object is too small to vault normally, it would be where a vault extension would be useful. A vault extension can also work if and object is anti-vaulted, but not anti-landing zoned. You can do this by simply putting a shield in front of the vault extension.
