When i started playing around a year ago, i knew nothing about real life/simulated aviation. my learning process looked like this:
play basic tutorial to learn how to start up, take-off and land. struggle due to not knowing the forces that act upon the aircraft, the turn axis, what is a glide-slope, why am i stalling so much, etc. play weapons tutorial while barely knowing how to fly and not knowing anything about the armaments of the aircraft. struggle due to it being hard to maneuver the aircraft in a desired way, distinguish the different armaments and the different ways to deploy them. attempt playing the standard campaigns, failing miserably due to them being overwhelming and outdated. spend a ton of time watching videos, reading guides, the wiki and NATOPS manuals to start having a good grasp on how to be barely competent.
i'd like to see a flight school in the menu, allowing the player to sit in the briefing room, seeing some presentation of text/narration with pictures or short videos, explaining the basic principals of flight, proceeded by flight lessons meant to give a rookie some actual air time with checkpoints, teaching the trade-off between altitude and energy, how to turn properly, throttle fuel/speed management, TWR importance, ILS use, airspace rules, holding patterns, approaches, etc.
afterwards, the flight school may start teaching about the basics of weapons, explaining guns and their use, bombs and the different types, their mechanical principals and deployment methods, missiles and the difference between AGM and AIM and the sub categories in each. i'd like to see tutorial missions for each armament and their deployment methods. then it may also teach RWR and evasive maneuvers.
i'd like to see tutorial for each aircraft and their unique mechanics, like how to transition from forward flight to vertical landing, how to stealth, how to use carriers, how to air-refuel, how to choose a loadout for a task (cap, cas, sead), jamming, etc.
