Many missions now make good use of limits on respawns, and game modes apply penalties for losing a ship.
It would provide an interesting new mechanic as well as adding new utility to the ejector handle and the excitement of desperately struggling to control an f26 one-winged glider with half a tail if aircrew who survive the loss of their aircraft could be rescued by an AV-42 (or trek back to a FARP or airbase) to get a new aircraft.
It would also add an interesting new role for the av-42 as a SAR unit, which is too-often relegated to a third choice bomb-truck struggling to find a niche.
The strength of the incentive to rescue downed crew would be dependent on the penalties for their loss, so besides respawn limits, point penalties might be higher for dead pilots, and there could be a time penalty as well before a pilot is allowed to respawn
