So, I've been testing some neat metroidvanias on steam and I still get amazed on how heavily inspired on HK they are
Like, sure, HK set some very nice standarts for modern metroidvanias (and thus most of these games afe very nice to play, even when they're almost copypasting everything), but I've been wondering if it's that hard to think of smth new, it kinda worsens the cope for Silksong since it will prolly be the first game in a good while to bring some actually innovative mechanics and get the public's attention

Or maybe I got too much biased and missed some popular and diff games

Well, the metroidvania genre is kinda formulaic

"Big room, sword, run, many rooms, no objective markers" you cant realy differ from that and still be a metroidvania

And thats not bad mind you, its nice to know what kind of gameplay you will get out of a game before you buy it, and you can tell many different stories in a same genre, for example, you can put castlevania SOTN skins on HK and get a very similar game to regular SOTN

Depends on my mood lol, sometimes reading the lyrics just opens the song in the whole another way for me, if that’s how you can phrase it. But that might also just be so bcs I’m not a native speaker for most of the songs and can easily mishear a line/word lol. And sometimes I’m just too lazy to check the lyrics too haha

case in point up until recently on one of the rooms i run at work, the character in the room says “your gracious host, guide, and perhaps the last voice you might hear” and for a very long time i thought he randomly said “your gracious host, died” etc like that would not work in the sentence whatsoever

it was only when one of our tiktoks came up on my fyp that had subtitles that the penny dropped

honestly to me i find the most important part of listening to music is feeling the music and how i interpret it based on my personal situation and experiences yaknow? like the lyrics are for the artist, not so much myself
