Mr. Owl is to get rid of the souls of his family and Mr. Crow, to find how to stay eternal

Uh... I don't really think it has a goal .-.

I guess to keep on existing, it's kind of feeding on it and mixing them together, as we can see in Theatre, and I think it's its way of being what it is.

Each cube is a memorable event, and it size is defined by what the former owner consider is linked to it.

The old lady is Mr. Crow's wife but we know nothing else about her

The animal hybrids are the "demigods" if you refer to the buddhist circle of life, it's just how it is.

Birthday, I don't know how much the Lake messed with the memory but I assume his parents just died and the Lake gave him a chance to kinda get over it

William wanted eternal life, so as he died trying to pursue it, he just gave himself another chance

I think what happened in Birthday is real up to the death of the parents.
Because The Hand, that is always connected to The Lake, showed up to help Dale.
I'm pretty sure The Lake just gave Dale a way to start overcoming his trauma, and that Paradox is just the continuation of that, since he's still in the lake (chap 2 secret ending and just the forest) and the fact that it starts over and over
The Lake is just giving Dale a therapy with faces he already know, such as Aldous and Jakob
