#are LinkedIn recommendations useless/valuable?

Has anyone here gotten hired/not hired because they had/didn't have recommendations on their LinkedIn profile?

Would be interested to hear about your experience.

I think recommendations are good if they are from skilled and credible people in the industry. I don't think recommendations from those people have downside. I think the upside is anywhere from not a lot to being the reason you get hired.

e.g if the recruiter sees 2 candidates who have build about equally impressive projects, but the other one has recommendations from someone who is credible, they'll probably get picked. That's my opinion.

note: I'm looking for internships and junior roles, if it's any different from senior.

If an employer wants recommendations or references they'll ask for them
