#Open mic bug - personal data security concern

How is the openMic bug regarded among the devs? It was reported many times, but ignored so let's look at the topic from non-player angle.

(We are talking about the bug when HLL quite sometimes keeps picking up and transmitting our voice/sound even when we are not pressing/holding the PTT button anymore and the mic acts like an "open mic" feature which however doesn't exist in HLL.)

Isn't it considered a security concern since people may share their personal information without their knowledge? Because this bug is not any rare one and especially when it happens after the loading of next map, the people usually talk about stuff outside the game with the people in their physical room (we were able to hear many of such instances already over time). In that case the HLL VOIP acts like nothing else than a listening device ("bug" as well in English I believe). Isn't that against the law? Wouldn't be possible to get the dev studio sued if HLL caused/allowed some very sensitive information leakage by not responding to this bug in any way?

As we all know, the bug started happening with one of the HLL updates, under Team17's reins already. The devs could have caused it by updating VIVOX in it, but then again they may have broken something themselves too. We may never know, whose fault it was. In any case though, a customer doesn't need to care - the devs should be motivated to fix it ASAP because they are still just as responsible as potentially VIVOX, for as long as the devs keep knowingly using a broken VIVOX version even after reports from the bottom, like this one.

So no matter if it's just VIVOX's fault or if some of the devs' have broken it, the devs are still responsible - it's not VIVOX, but Team17 that runs & manages the game and its features. And we all know that in terms of law, the security concerns and personal information leakage are taken pretty seriously no matter where or how they happen.

Imagine a very high profile person would play HLL (a politician, singer, whoever who's more exposed) and the bug would cause divulging some very sensitive data. And if now this data would get into the hands of the public, their political or whoever opponents or of the press. Do we think such high profile person would ignore it the same as regular players usually do? The law doesn't assume stuff like that - it doesn't care if it's about a casual gamer or about a politician. It considers everybody as a person 1st and foremost, a person with certain rights that need to be protected by whoever who is using or conducting them. And that ofc. applies to a company as well, including game development studios.

I can only guess but I am quite sure the dev studio could get into serious problems out of this, in that specific (still theoretical) case. Or am I wrong?

Too bad Epstein did not play HLL

Weirdly. I agree with sam, but you guys know this

It is related to using coms on death. If you are holding c or v when you die you hot mic after. If this happens to be between games it broadcasts to the whole team.

I have explained this for months and nothing is done.

I have heard personal private convos from people. Maybe GDPR is a better option than t17

I guess most of the peeps missed Ben's reaction in the mess-hall, so I am referencing it here:

I've checked the Jira and can confirm this is with the team and is a priority for them to resolve as soon as possible. Hopefully can give you a positive update soon once they get to the bottom of it ico_HLLSalute
