I suggest that on the D-Day maps (Omaha and Utah beach ) the US commander's bombing run ability be replaced with a new ability, the naval surface fire support .

Naval gunfire support on D-Day was crucial, with battleships, cruisers, and destroyers bombarding German defenses along the Normandy coast to soften them for the amphibious landings. While the initial pre-invasion bombardment had limited success against heavily fortified positions, the close-in support from ships like destroyers was vital in overcoming intense German resistance, particularly at Omaha Beach.
When troops faced heavy fire on the beaches, particularly at Omaha, warships moved dangerously close to shore to provide direct, close-in support.
Destroyer support: Destroyers sailed within a few hundred yards of the beach, engaging German strongpoints and machine gun nests with their rapid-fire guns.
Battleship and cruiser support: Battleships like the Texas, Arkansas, and Nevada, along with cruisers, provided heavy, high-volume fire against more distant German targets. The Texas even improvised a tactic by flooding a part of its hull to elevate its guns and extend their range.
