So to solve the question of "how could mortar be introduced in a balanced way?", I think there should be a separate category of two maximum potential mortar squads, with 3 people in each mortar squad. A commander, a loader, and a "gunner". 15 second splash time, commanders main function is communication with SL chat, give standard SL load out options, but give the gunner and the spotter 2 different parts of the mortar gun and make them each carry 15 mortar rounds and a pistol so they're reliant on each other to stay as a unit. 30 mortar rounds is pretty accurate as far as mortar squad ammunition goes. Maximum range should be 200 meters and no OPs to prevent mortar respawn spamming. Time between shots about 10 seconds to balance a short range arty, and make splash radius about half of arty
