The loadouts are fixed in order to maintain historical accuracy and balance, this isn't Call of Duty.

I can agree with this but it should be limited.
Like rifleman should only have access to the Carbine and M1.
They can choose between more smoke grenades or Frags, like 2 frags 2 smokes, 3 frags 1 smoke, all frags ETC.
And they have to pick between the Hammer and the Ammo box, they can’t have both.
Could make classes more personal and could make it so classes can be tailored to situations so I can use a weapon I’m comfortable with but still be effective with other items. The static presets are kinda annoying
