(strawhat) hetzner connection test
Hi I'm AutoThreadBot! Don't mind me, I'll just be adding the helper team to this thread so they can see it. A human will get to you soon.
oh also, im unable to find any us-based servers, so if anyone is aware of any they are offering do say, it'd be greatly appreciated
https://cloudpingtest.com/hetzner
this returns <10ms which seems very inaccurate
Test ping time for different Hetzner regions from your web browser
i ran ping -t <host> and got ~100ms from all three regions (excluding ashburn & the other us server since i can't find either on the dedicated server listing)
Nuremberg: ping nbg.icmp.hetzner.com
Falkenstein: ping fsn.icmp.hetzner.com
Finland: ping hel.icmp.hetzner.com
woah i've got 1ms
Icecapade doxxee
yeah another reason why I’m confused my ms is showing no higher than 7. I live way over in the northeast I should not have that good connection.
I dont get why I have 1ms either
can you try pinging via command prompt?
20-25ms
what is your goal in the end?
Do you target an american end user base or europe?
How many minecraft servers do you need?
American, but in the far future I’m definitely going to go for a European proxy too.
I currently have like 9 servers on the machine, but only a few are ever concurrently running. I’m planning on scaling operations up so I’m looking for a machine with like 96 to 128gb of ram and a medium to high end cpu
i live on the east coast in the US. i had a hetzner server overseas for a while
it was almost unplayable
all of my us-based players complained almost daily of latency
some were not even able to play, they'd have such a poor connection they would get kicked loading chunks on login
the thing is with english-speaking communities, they're largely composed of US and EU players. the EU players are used to having higher latency, playing on US-based servers
the US players on the other hand are very much not used to this
i moved to OVH and a US-based server and the complaints stopped, the connection problems stopped, etc
i see
the only reason i don't want to switch to ovh is because they're significantly higher priced than what im paying for now yk?
yes their sale price is good until you cancel
yeah it's quite nice
guess it'd be good to wait until then lol
in the meantime though i do need a more powerful machine
this is the one i was considering upgrading to
thoughts?
$150 O_O
this is the one i have now
alternatively
yeah it's quite expensive, but cheaper than ovh imo
