Asteroids are boring. They judt exist and hang around until you crash into them, mine them, destroy them. They're a static blockade and generally just lame.

What we need is a little movement, sometimes.

  1. Asteroid fields stay the same.
  2. Asteroid rings have a chance to either stay put, as is right now, or all Asteroids of the ring move clockwise/counter clockwise along the ring line.
  3. There's star systems with asteroid "storms" now. Basically these get spawned in at random point A somewhere out the map and move at a fixed speed in clusters to random point B where they'll despawn again.

Why?
It makes the universe feel more alive.
Fighting inside and around moving asteroid fields drastically changes combat.
Mining gets more interesting.
Newly spawned-in moving Asteroids make for ammo sources in otherwise outmined star systems.

This could also make for a new civilian questtype where you need to save a station from an incoming asteroid shower by blowing them up? Idk if collision damage is ever supposed to be added, but if it were Asteroids would suddenly be dangerous rather than mildly inconvenient, especially if they get to fly around

I like the idea, but I fear it would be a lot of additional calculations to manage in Career 🥲
