You can define storage priority types, similar to how professions are set for personnel. For example, if a slot is assigned to Type 1, it might prioritize Fe with a priority level of 10, Cu with 9, and all other items with 0. This allows slots that currently don’t have the desired items to still serve a purpose and remain active, rather than staying empty.

That would be VERY useful
it will also make support ships that collect resources from enemies way more useful due to reducing amount of micro control needed by a ton
tho it would be very problematic to make I think, due to the way everything works rn, I think we should still be able to assign the main resource which will be saved to the ship file
