Very often after battles there is a lot of space debris left over. I sweep up as much of it as I want but the rest sits there taking up memory and cluttering the view. It would be neat to see junkers going around collecting this space debris to clean up space and sell it to the space stations. It would probably also keep save game files smaller and make multi-player sync issues less problematic to have fewer objects in space that need to be kept track of. It could also probably be optimized in an 'out of sight out of mind' way by just timing out space debris that is not in your field of view after a longish period of time.... or perhaps in a system that is not the current system.

This sounds like a great idea- it reduces lag and file sizes, and makes ai ships more interesting
this could work well if the ai scrap ships start going after stuff after it has been lying around uncollected for a certain amount of time
