#Disabling the chaingun turret

When the chaingun opens it extends out a bit and becomes vulnerable. That is all well and good, until your chaingun turret is just barely clipped by some lasers and slowly the whole thing breaks down.

So I'd like there to be an option to have the turret break, but keeping the installation of the chaingun alone, essentially two objects with two health pools. This could obviously backfire for balancing reasons, but imo it would be an overall improvement and make us consider the placement of chainguns a little more (especially if we get bent magazines)

This could also act as a bit of a drone testing ground, as that's kind of what the turret would be then.

That sounds quite complicated to implement especially considering that there is nothing like that in the game as of now.
The detriment of how long it would take to implement this feature probably outweighs the benefits

The idea does seem interesting though

Why would this be useful? It just seems like the gun itself would have lower hp being divided between the gun part and the rest of it, the gun itself is useless with only 1 half, there isn't any benefit from this
