#Ability to pause the game during the save screen

I've found myself getting tripped up during fights because of the autosave interrupting my thought process. The unpredictable unpausing has landed me in hot water a couple of times.

It would be nice if I could choose to have the ability to toggle the pause during the save screen so that the game can remain paused when the save screen goes away, or that it continues as normal with resuming the game once the save has finished.

Ideas like this are a weird dichotomy between "Wow that's a simple but very useful" and "how have we not already thought of this". Thanks for the suggestion!

For the time being, here are a couple things that might help:

  • You can quick save the game using Ctrl S (by default) and quick load with Ctrl L (by default). The autosave timer resets after every save/load, so if you want to prevent an autosave from triggering mid-battle, just manually save right before engaging (which is probably smart anyway). You can also adjust autosave frequency in settings if your battles are just that long.
  • This is probably super out of the way, but developer mode has a debugging-related option where every time the game saves, it'll automatically reload the save it just made. It takes way longer but will pause the game automatically because of the load.

Should the game auto-pause only after an auto-save, or also after manual/quick saves too?

I don't think autopausing is necessarily wanted, rather the ability to still toggle pause whilst the game is saving (unless I'm misunderstanding something).
