#Game crashing when approaching ship that player abandoned before

I was able to get the same thing to happen. Re-approaching a pirate base I had mapped out earlier, game crashes before I get any hostile radar contacts to pop up.
Note: interestingly, initially placing a marker at the location of the base (while scouting it out) kept it from ever going back to a radar-contact icon - it always remained on my map as the discovered-station-type icon in red.
Just a wild idea (probably unrelated to the error but noteworthy): is it possible that map markers are now somehow considered player faction objects by the game? Earlier in that same save while performing some uuh.. "freebooting activities" I was not able to lose my wanted status with a marker placed next to one of the hostile stations, despite not having had any hostile radar contacts for a while. It eventually started ticking down after removing the marker.
