Anyways yeah, I had matches with a few people who thought all the same archetypes (Even if I ALWAYS build my ships up from scratch) were ripoffs of one another, and they also said they were clones of the ships that they have seen, not even some of the actual FIRST ever kinds of ships of those archetypes.

That's why I always try to stand out with my competitive-ish designes.

They're by no means actually good or worthwhile, but hey, they're cool 🥹

to answer both questions: im planning to host the next contest in april.
and yes, as long as they follow the rules, which will be very similar to the new years contests rules. pre-build ships are allowed. i had a rule against it at some point, but i scraped said rule

the next couple contests will be about designing all the different needed pirate ships, i was thinking at least 1 of each ship size class first and maybe a contest for stations after that. but ill keep the idea of a pirate flagship contest in mind (no guarantee though)

ancile just has super thick armor, and gladius is on par with another imperium ship. They are almost the same, but gladius has 0 shielding systems

so.. no balancing nightmares for me XD

True. That's what I said is the biggest issue of Cosmoteer factions.

Walt (And to a lesser extent Architects) have locked the game's faction roster into a corner.

There are already all 4 of the very broad styles occupied.

We have:
Curvy and elegant
Sharp and menacing
Bulky and boxy
And scrappy and worn

The only thing we're missing probably is eldritch and organic, but I'm not the one to decide what counts as a broad style.

I think ideally for the campaign to make sense, pirates would be composed of minor groups spanning anywhere from single outlaws to organised fleets, which occupy small portions of the galaxy map and have established lore

otherwise it's just extra ships of all sorts which spawn everywhere for some reason
