#Randomization in some aspect

Part of replayability are the randomizations that come between every game round. Currently decisions and player-made choices are mostly limited to which sectors are being selected, and which ships the player chooses to engage. It’d be nice to have more factors that the player can or can’t control (ie weapon/ship modifiers, and randomized events), and force the player to fight through differing conditions. Probably would throw meta in a loop, but it’d be nice to have more varying gameplay for sure.

As to what specific variations we do have, I’d love to have that discussion with you guys. Cheers!

You are basically talking about optional modifiers to a galaxy, yes? Like many rougelikes have for runs.

One of the big issues I see with the critical reviewers’ complaints is that players aren’t given enough agency, and they don’t feel like they have enough control over what’s happening. Being able to choose what happens to the ships, and have ourselves be on our toes because of factors inside/outside our control, that can help to address the gameplay issues.

I have nothing too fleshed out at the moment, but I’m happy to spitball ideas with y’all to refine into neat features 😄

I wholeheartedly support the idea of having a bunch of optional modifiers you can apply to your galaxy when you start it. An example is another suggestion that someone has of making you get partial returns on components you placed just like you do when you mess with a captured ship. They're talking about making it have that part of the highest economic difficulty whereas I think it would be better as a toggle that can be applied to a galaxy separate from difficulty settings

Other ideas for modifiers would be things like making there be more/less pirates, asteroids, etc
