#Tube parameters, especially thickness

When creating a tube mesh, lets say with a diameter of 16 and a thickness of 2, i'd expect the outer ring diameter to be 16 and the inner ring diameter to be 16 - 2 -2 = 12.

To clarify what I'm trying to achieve is this: a cylinder, 8 sided, with a diameter of 12, encased by a tube, 8 sided, diameter 16 and thickness 2, without gaps or overlaps. But whatever value i put in as thickness, there is always either a gap or an overlap with the cylinder. How to interpret and set tube thickness correctly? Thanks

dont bother with making a whole other mesh

#

just make a loop cut on the inner cylinder, and extrude to spec

#

assuming youre trying to make it be a tight fit...?

Exactly, that is what i'm looking for. Thanks for pointing towards loop cut and extruding.
