I'm modelling a little concept of mine for another allay variant. The head is supposed to somewhat resemble a flame, but every solution I can come up with to keep it in line with the vanilla style looks awkward.

Mostly using this model as practice for getting down that vanilla style of texturing and modelling, so maintaining that "possibly official" feel is kind of crucial.

Still feels kind of awkward, tried messing around with textures in aseprite but everything I made looked odd on the model

It depends on what type of flame it's meant to be. But something I do is model quickly and create a single color texture where I then erase the faces where I don't want color so I can see the shape more or less

I would consider adding 2 planes intersecting in the middle of the head, like the fire block and smaller planes on the side of the head to show little sparks coming off if your planning to animate it
