yes
alright
shading mostly
yes i can help you with that tottally
i think the bottom half of his face is bland
give me a second im rushing towards lots of posts
no rush
looks bad
take your time
first thing, i dont recommend using resolutions bigger than 16x16 since its not the resolution that minecraft works with, so it causes it to look weird in game on most of the times
and also 32x32 skins dont load in minecraft iirc
only with mods
so its less appreciable
im trying to make a mod
okay fine a mod
and i dont like 16x
but it will also look strange when played
i think 32 is sweet spot
its ok
its something like this you know
it just doesnt fits there
it doesnt conveys with the "aestethics"
i feel dumb saying that word i dislike it
maybe if this was orca's mod lol
but thats the easiest way to understand it
it doesnt matters
just say "style"
well yeah you get me
it just goes against the style of minecraft
thats why everyone just sticks into 16x16
so i recommend you to do so
here something i see its that you only use 2 tones in the hair
should i put really dark purple?
no what?
or dark blue
ahhh
hue shifting lie
who teached you that was really wrong
hue shifting doesnt works like that
im tired of that big lie that everyone shares
that hue shifting its just shading everything with purple
blue
i didnt knew that character was venom
i dont think it changes anything
i would recommend to do that with shaders instead of into the texture
its more so for outlining
because the lights appears into the sides
so they would be weird into the texture
since it can be seen on the inner parts
wathever
i would recommend to scrap the texture
but not entirely
like just keep the shapes
change every colour into just 1 tone
ok
alright
somet hings to keep in mind
never use pitch black
never
its a gross colour
it ruins things
not even for eyebrows?
and makes everything look bad
i use a slighty colored black for eyebrows
so, gray.
that also makes the iris have the sensation of having a colour
blockbench
i dont recommend using blockbench
i would recommend you to use an external app
like paint.net
its a very good one and free
i dont know how to use that
download it
its loading i think
Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for computers that run Windows.
oh ok
I cant
what happens?
i have mac
ahh
okay fine
i never talked with someone with mac before
yeah paint.net isnt for mac
i didnt expected that
you might be cooked
but anyways
im getting a windows
then just stick with blockbench
give me a second
i will open blockbench and start to examinate the gui
so i can help you better
ok
i never used blockbench for texturing
when you paint, do you just put the pencil above your model and start like doing a make up to it or you use the uv window for it?
on model
alright
what i recommendate the most its to use the uv window
you see that window that appears on the corner top left
yes
that has your texture
well you drag it on the middle top
and you have something like this
uh huh
and then you just paint into the uv window
its like using paint
or any other application to open your texture
instead of painting on the model like doing makeup you paint into the files
did you reducted the texture resolution to 16x16?
i really recommend that now
it will make everything easier and look better
you preffer to die doing bad art or to live doing good art?
you can get out of that hill and get into a higher one
with better things
death.
ahg you really are stubborn
its alright
so lets imagine this is the shape of your character's hair
im making it gray
to better understanding of you
but ofc you make it black
black matte
its not pitch black
its just a really really dark gray
yes
that matte colour was for the hair
for the eyes i would reccomend using a very dark colour
not black
like dark brown
wait for a second im having a problem
ok
uh huh
so what i would do now its to divide it in segments
you see
like i used a more darker colour
to divide them
mhm
then with a brighter colour you add lights to the hair
always following the segment divisions
like continuing the lines
is the light grey skin? or hair
skin
im teaching you to do hair now
so the skin is gray
alr
so it doesnt gets into the way
im still on this step rn
then you can add a highlight
and thats how you make a messy hair
i would also recommend to using colours with a bit of saturations
because pure gray black white or any of those tones its also gross
it depends on the rest of your skin
like for example in mine, my skin its primarly orange and with warm colours, so the suit that should be black and gray, i made it be somekind of yellowish brown
to keep with the warmth colours
i got you
show me pics
I have to start over
?!
I missed a square
im not telling you to copy pixel by pixel
change those colours
try to make the colours be like a gradient
not just a hard change from dark gray to super light gray
like this?
much better
you learned good
look, you still have lots to learn
but i thin k that the time will teach you
but this is a big step
so you can continue now with the face and skin ofc
and also the top part of the hair
its always a bit messy
eyebrows arent very weird
i think they look good
well then this is the final result
better than the first
so do I shade the skin?
exactly
Sweet I’ll download it
