textures is the only way for item models (assuming we are talking about the ones in your hand)

unless you wanna dive into hardcoding weird workarounds with shaders that might break at any point
or generating dozens of models of the model with slightly different display settings that get replaced in the players hand with commands/plugins and also very strong mining fatigue so the model is always at the lowest point of that "item picked up/changed" animation

do you know if flipbook frames in blockbench work the same way as the traditional method (expanding resolution height wise)
